MTI/Vista 8 Font Set List
Monotype Imagings Vista 8 Font Set includes the Calibri® and Cambria® font families. Delivered to end users through the release of Microsofts Windows Vista® operating system and Microsoft® Office 2007 application suite, the Calibri and Cambria designs are the new default sans serif and serif font families within Microsoft Office 2007.
The MTI Vista 8 Font Set offers printer manufacturers compatibility, speed and reliability advantages. Fonts residing in printer ROM can circumvent downloading from a host computer, saving printer RAM and increasing printing speed. Embedded typefaces also improve document fidelity by preventing text from defaulting to undesired fonts. (See print scenario 1).
Print Scenario 1: Document printed from machine without resident fonts
A document is created using the Calibri or Cambria font. Because the author is a Windows Vista and/or Microsoft Office 2007 user, the fonts are resident on the authors machine. The document is passed to a recipient. Since the recipient is not a Windows Vista/XP and/or Microsoft Office 2007 user, the fonts are not on the recipients machine. When the recipient prints the document, the printer will search for the fonts. If the fonts are not embedded in the printer, the text will substitute fonts unintended by the author. However, if the fonts are embedded, the printer will locate them and the document will print as the author intended.
Print Scenario 2: Document printed from machine with resident fonts
A document is created using the Calibri or Cambria font. Because the author is a Windows Vista and/or Microsoft Office 2007 user, the fonts are resident on the authors machine. If the fonts are not embedded within the print file as they are with an XPS package, the printer will search for the fonts. If the fonts are embedded within the printer, the fonts will not need to be downloaded from the host machine, reducing print time.
