This list allows you to find the name of the script used to write a particular language. For example, if you need to know what script is used to write the Assamese language, the list will direct you to the Bengali script. Bear in mind that some languages can be written with more than one script; for instance, Moldavian can be written in Cyrillic or Latin script. It should also be noted that often the name of a language is identical to its script. For example, the Lao language is written in Lao script. In some other cases, a script was named after the major language which first utilized it; one of the best such examples is Latin script. The writing systems of Japanese and Korean are interesting because they use more than one script. Korean uses Hangul and Hanja scripts, while Japanese uses Hiragana, Katakana and Kanji script simultaneously. Names of languages can often have multiple spellings; in many cases, the various spellings have been included in the list in order to facilitate look up.
